Request for advice. Respectable Doctor, Assalamun Alaikum, I have the honor To contact you regarding my 16 years old mentally handicapped/developmentally delayed grand daughter. She was abandoned by her father in Pakistan at the age of 2.5 years in 2001 . Her father is a qualified doctor(MD in psychiatry and is a well known Psychiatrist Doctor in Toronto,Canada ). Her mother is a house wife and divorced in 2001.The mother got 2nd marriage in 2007. Since her 2nd marriage the child is under my custody and care. I have tried and asked her father to get her to USA/Canada but he is not responding at all. My said grand daughter is American citizen by birth. Since 2001 her mother and I both are struggling for her treatment and rehabilitation. We have evaluated/assessed her by various institutes/Doctors.We also admitted her in various Special Children Institutions in Karachi. But her condition could not improved. As she is an American citizen I also contacted U.S.Embassy in Pakistan for her treatment and rehabilitation. They are asking me to get her to USA. In Pakistan they are not providing any type of help. They approved 5 years multiple visa for me to get this child to USA. I and my wife are aged and also suffering from diabetics ,hypertension, heart disease (wife has spinal cord problem) are not In a position to take her care. In Pakistan there is no any full time hostel for such children , particularly for girls and if exists these are not of good quality and are very expensive. I have no any close relatives/friends in USA. Is it advisable to take this child to USA for her treatment and special education ? Will she improve her condition and get normal ? I shall be highly obliged for your valued advice in this matter. Thanks and Best regards. Hussain Rajani. [email protected]
